ASHLAND, Ore. – John Dix found redemption for his 2012 loss in the Big Al’s men’s open singles finals to Wil Cochrane. On Sunday, Dix stormed past Douglass Neuman of Ashland, 6-1, 6-2. Dix began the championship match only 30 minutes after concluding his semifinal match with Adam Stamper, but the 36 year-old showed no signs of tiring as he dominated Neuman in all phases of the game. After the match, Dix reflected on winning the title in his hometown.
“It feels great to finally come through on it,” he said. “It’s been a close call a couple years ago so this was nice to finally break through and get the Big Al’s title this year.”
“He really pulled it all together today,” Neuman said. “His serve was very tough, and he was a tough out, and that’s tennis.”
