District 9 Begins Proficiency Grading

district 9EAGLE POINT, Ore. — Some schools in the Rogue Valley are making a change to the way students are graded.

School District 9 have switched to proficiency grading for the. In this system of scoring, students are shown how their performance measures up to the established standards. In the same way it allows the school to compare itself with other schools around the country.

Eagle Point Superintendent Cynda Rickert says she is a strong believer in proficiency grading and believes it will better prepare students for higher education or a job after graduation.
