Dads Go Fishing for Father’s Day

Dads Fish for Father's DayLAKE OF THE WOODS, Ore. — Dozens of dads were fishing at Lake of the Woods for Father’s Day weekend. Nearly 200 people were expected to fish between Saturday and Sunday. Lake of the Woods officials brought in an extra 700 fish to stock up for the holiday.

This is one of the few opportunities local people have to fish for free and without a license at Lake of the Woods each year. One fisherman says it’s his first time spending Father’s Day casting a line with the kids. “I’m a real fisherman and I bring the kids out and this is her first time fishing with me a little deal like this and it’s a pretty good deal,” said the fisherman.

Lake of the Woods officials say the children get to keep one fish out of the small kids pond. Adults get to keep two fish out of the larger lake.

Your story is incorrect, I did the interview yesterday and this was not free fishing, it was a youth angling opportunity that the resort and ODFW have been working together on for 12 years.
Regular limits of 5 fish are enforced in the lake not the 2 you mention.
The Klamath Hatchery and ODF provide the fish. The entire opportunity is based on teaching kids how to fish

“This is one of the few opportunities local people have to fish for free and without a license at Lake of the Woods each year”

The above line is so wrong, it was not free fishing!
    Thank you
