GRANTS PASS, Ore. – Christmas will arrive in the city of Grants Pass Friday night. The city’s annual tree lighting and Santa parade is kicking off at 7 p.m.
Before Friday night’s event crews prepped for three weeks to get the downtown area ready. Today, they worked on building pop-up covers for people to stay dry. Organizers said the rain today set back their prep work.
“When you’re working in this type of conditions, its one of those things where you’re basically running in and getting dry for a few minutes and getting warmed up and running back out and there’s a lot of Dutch Bros hot chocolate involved and things like that,” said Towne Association Board Member John Voigt.
Santa will be in the house starting at 9 p.m. Friday night for pictures. The roads near G Street between 4th and 6th Streets will be closed temporarily.
