The project, a pipe installation along exit 24, was delayed due to rain in the forecast. Once it begins the construction will limit traffic down to one lane in either direction for up to 25-days.
Representatives with the Oregon Department of Transportation say the work must be finished by Memorial Day, and these delays will not impact that deadline.
“There’s 24 hours in a day,” said ODOT representative Gary Leaming. “If they plan on working 12 hours a day they can expand that work.”
This pipe installation is part of a larger construction project at the exit 24 interchange.
Once this is done that exit on the southbound side will be shut down for up to five days as crews put in a temporary on and off ramp. Those ramps will be in place for up to a year.
