NEAR ASHLAND, Ore. — Hundreds of fire crews with the Oregon Department of Forestry are clearing out the Oregon Gulch Fire camp at Howard Prairie Resort east of Ashland.
The fire is 100% contained now and several dozen crews will stay on the campground through the weekend to continue the mop up process.
But the majority of the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) crew members will get a break before their next, unknown assignment. “We’re tired, we’re ready to go home, we’re ready to get revived,” said ODF’s Angie Johnson.
The fire is now turned over to a smaller team, equipped to handle a less-complicated fire.
