Crescent City Harbor Work Resumed

CRESCENT CITY, Calif. – With the start of crab fishing season just ten days away, work has resumed at Crescent City to have that harbor ready for fishing boats.

State officials gave the green light this week for work to go forward past last month’s deadline for working in the water. Drillers are putting large metal pilings in the harbor’s stony bottom which will be the anchor points for new concrete docks.

The old docks and pilings were ripped out in last years tsunami. Harbormaster Richard Young says the new facilities are designed to withstand a 50-year tsunami event, like last years.
