MEDFORD, Ore. — Medford is seeing an increasing crime trend and it’s now struck a Rogue Valley car dealership.
Over the weekend here at Crater Lake Ford, three trucks were vandalized, windows smashed in and a navigation system stolen. Crater Lake Ford is reporting that the total damage amounts to more than $10,000.
Police suspect that the vandals were after the built-in navigation systems, even though they only got away with one of them. The Crater Lake Ford General Manager says they don’t understand the theft, because each navigation system will only work with its assigned truck.
The break in at the dealership continues a recent trend around Medford. Medford police say car break-ins were up over 50% last year and this year is on pace to match last year’s totals. Crater Lake Ford says they aren’t going to take any more chances and have increased security. Medford Police recommend locking your car and making sure valuables are out of sight.
