CENTRAL POINT, Ore. — Several students contacted police, turning in sexual text messages exchanged between a teacher and her student.
Three and a half months later, the former Crater High School teacher turned herself for allegedly having a sexual relationship with that student.
28-year-old Sarah Swanson taught students as a science teacher. During the long investigation, officers say they found evidence on their cell phones and computers the relationship.
Since the student was 18-years-old at the time, he is considered to have consented to the act. But Swanson is charged with official misconduct in the first degree, because police say she failed her duties as a public official.
There’s no word yet if her teaching license will be revoked. The Central Point School District says Swanson resigned in March. The case is now headed to the district attorney’s office.
