CENTRAL POINT, Ore. – Division One football players from the Rogue Valley are rare. Two from the same team are even rarer.
On Wednesday, Crater seniors Derrick Turituri and R.J. Morgan signed their letters of intent to play football for the University of Arizona. Both Turituri and Morgan were rated as three-star recruits by ESPN and ranked in the Top 10 for high school prospects in the state of Oregon. Teammates for the past four years at Crater, the two say they are thrilled to be headed to Tucson together.
‘It’s definitely going to help a lot because if I get homesick or something bad happens, I have my best friend to come and help me out, have my back no mater what the situation may be,” said Morgan.
“It was definitely a plus to have RJ come along with me,” said Turituri. “Having my best friend for another four years in my favorite sport, it’s pretty exciting, kind of a dream come true.”
Turituri and Morgan will likely play on defense for the Wildcats.
