CENTRAL POINT, Ore. — Witnesses say a mother driving three young children fell asleep at the wheel Thursday morning.
Oregon State Police, Jackson County Sheriff’s Department and Fire District 3 all responded to the 5000 block of Crater Lake Highway near the New Beginnings Church.
Police say the northbound driver crossed over at least two oncoming lanes, running off the roadway on that side, going through the ditch, hitting a power pole and a big landscaping rock. She suffers minor injuries but all three kids were saved by their seating.
“The three kids weren’t hurt because they were properly restrained in their car seats and one was restrained in the proper booster seat,” said Greg Winfrey, with Jackson County Fire District 3.
Police say a relative came to pick the kids up from the scene.
