Crash Causes Delay for Morning Commute

TRAFFIC JAMNEAR MEDFORD, Ore. – Some Thursday morning commuters were late to work after a non-injury crash on I-5 blocked drivers going north towards Medford.

Oregon State Police say around 7:30 a.m. a driver in the fast lane tried to slow down when 3 deer jumped in front of her on the freeway. The driver following the slowing car was not able to stop and the two collided.

Traffic was at a standstill near the accident, next to Exit 27. The bumper-to-bumper traffic stretched all the way to Exit 24. Some drivers waited for 10 to 20 minutes before moving past the scene.

OSP says the reason for the delay was the car that was rear-ended had a transmission lock, and could not be moved out of the lane of traffic. Both cars were towed, and no one was seriously hurt.
