Ashland, Ore. — The business of craft beer is booming with sales reaching record numbers in Oregon and throughout the country.
According to the Brewers Association more than 400 new breweries opened up in the last year nationwide. It makes a total of more than 3,000 breweries across the country. That’s a 15% increase from the year before.
According to one economist, in Oregon the industry grew by more than 10% last year, adding more than 500 jobs.
Standing Stone Brewing Company’s brewer, Larry Chase said there are a lot of reasons for the business boom, “I think a lot of it goes back to local. There’s a big movement to support small, local businesses and small, independent craft brewers support the local communities. You get the two together and people go for it.”
