MEDFORD, Ore. — Today, Cover Oregon representatives will be helping people in our area sign up for their new health plans. It’s part of a “Plan B” to get people enrolled in health insurance.
The Cover Oregon website is still having problems with online enrollment, meaning most people who need insurance are going back to basic paper applications. All the reservation slots have been filled at this point, but there are some options for people who can’t attend the fair.
“They can go to CoverOregon.com and they can fill out an application online and they can submit it electronically, or they can reach out to a community partner or an agent in their area, the information is on our website all they need to do is put in their zip code and they can find agents in their area who can help them,” said Ariane Holm, a Cover Oregon Representative.
Cover Oregon applications can be filled out in a pdf format online, and sent in electronically. You have to have the PDF “fill-in” option on your computer.
If you have a reservation and are planning to attend, you can go online to the Cover Oregon website and print out an application. You’ll need to have your social security number, birth date, and income information, and you’ll need a list of tax deductions and expenses like student loans, as well as current health insurance information.
Those who apply at today’s fair will be able to get coverage in time for the January 1st start date. For those who need more time to look over their options, open enrollment through Cover Oregon continues through March 31st, 2014.
A representative from “Oregon Action” will be available to answer more Cover Oregon questions tomorrow from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. in the afternoon. She will have appointments available to help people fill out their applications and answer website questions. The Q-and-A session will be at the Talent Library on Home Street.
