A cold front will be passing through the region today dropping temperatures this afternoon 5-10 degrees from where we were yesterday. The basin will be feeling the change tomorrow morning when some areas will be at or below the freezing mark! A Frost Advisory has been issued from 2-8 AM tomorrow so be sure to protect any sensitive plants and animals tonight before you go to bed. Due to the cold start to the morning the Basin will feel the cooling trend more so tomorrow when temperatures drop 15-20 degrees from yesterday afternoon!
The cold front won’t reach northern California until tonight so today will be similar to yesterday with tomorrow being when the real change occurs. Winds pick up with the passing of the cold front with areas at the higher elevations seeing breezy to windy conditions this afternoon and evening and tomorrow winds could gust to 30 MPH. Expect to see strong winds at the coast again today and tomorrow as well, and with offshore flow persisting the Brookings area will be warmer than the rest of the south coast.
A cut-off low will push into our region this weekend bringing in a few more clouds but due to lack of moisture it’s looking like we’ll be staying dry. This weekend will be the first time in awhile that we’ve seen seasonable temperatures in our region with highs in the valleys in the upper-70s and the basin seeing the return of the lower-70s.
Have a great Tuesday
