A much cooler air mass will be in place this week, finally giving us a break from the extreme heat. However, this new air mass will come as a double-edged sword as thunder and lightning is expected through Tuesday. Fire weather watches/warnings remain in place to account for this lightning threat. High temperatures will top out in the 70’s and 80’s across our region into the middle of the week.
Today, a fire weather warning has been issued from 2pm-11pm for the Klamath Basin and also Siskiyou County. A line of showers and storms is expected to develop here by 4 and 5 o’clock this afternoon. Strong winds and small hail are possible with any cells that develop.
Throughout the first half of the day, a front moving inland (contributing to the thunder and lightning later) will bring some rain showers to the coast and West Side Valleys. Showers across the West Side though will be light and only throughout the first half of the day.
The big thing you’ll notice these next few days is the cooler air mass in place. High temperatures will top out in the 70’s and 80’s across the region! This will be the case through Thursday before we rebound very quickly into the weekend. Highs will then be in the upper 90’s and triple digits yet AGAIN!
