The high pressure ridge that brought record breaking temperatures to the region this week, will begin breaking down today. This will mark the beginning of a cool-down into the weekend. By Sunday, high temperatures will be below normal for May.
Today, skies will start off mostly sunny but increasing clouds will bring partly sunny skies into the afternoon. Temperatures will be 10-12 degrees cooler today. Thursday broke many records locally — Grants Pass, Ashland, Klamath Falls, North Bend and Brookings. It should also be mentioned that many of these records are from the 1940’s! Other locations came very close to tying records — Medford, Lakeview, Montague, Alturus and Roseburg.
By tomorrow, temperatures cool even more than today and showers will start pushing into the Coast into Saturday evening. Showers will spread inland on Sunday but most of the activity will be along and west of the Cascades. Into Monday, isolated thunderstorms could develop along the coastal waters, the mountains and the Klamath Basin.
