s: "hawthorne park is packed this afternoon with families and children enjoying some of the better air quality our region has had in weeks. they tell me theyre taking advantage of the clearer skies as long as they can." its been a pretty long time since anyone has seen the natural color of the sky. shannon duran moved to medford this june, a week before her second child was born and just before the smoke became this summer's norm. but while learning to juggle having a newborn baby and a six-year-old she tells me she spent much of early summer months inside. shannon says: "when we were ready to go outside and bring her outside that's when the smoke started so of course we don't want to bring a newborn baby outside and even the little one, my 6 year old we didnt want to bring her outside either. so it was kind of hard because we were trapped in our home a while but we made the best of any blue sky that we saw." jason brammell and his daughter justice have also been trapped inside as well. jason says: "it's been horrible and we haven't really been able to go outside much. i play baseball and everything is cancelled lately. she hasn't been able to come to the park lately. she's been begging me but you know with the smoke and eveyrthing it just hasn't been so good." today, the skies cleared and staying inside changed for both of these families now that the air quality re ached back to moderate in some of our region, many families soaked up the sun and decent air. shannon says: "we are playing in the water, getting some sun and we enjoyed some shaved ice." jason says: "it's very nice out here." andryanna says: "all the families i spoke to today hope these clearer skies and less smoky air actually last. in medford, andryanna sheppard, newswatch 12." the watson creek fire burning
