department of forestry are partnering up to restore local forests. it's because of the "good neighbor authority," which allows federal and state agencies to come together for specific projects. newswatch 12's cassandra mlynarek is live from the oregon department of forestry this morning in central point. she's explains how this partnership will benefit both forest restoration and seasonal odf workers. here at odf - most wildland firefighters are contracted seasonally. that means at the end of fire season - most are out of a job.. but this partnership will allow local firefighters the chance to continue employment through odf. the restoration project will thin out more than 3-thousand acres northwest of prospect. the forest service and odf says there's four goals in mind with this project. they want to preserve forest structure of large trees and the forest more like it was before humans interfered. they want to do controlled burns to enhance vegetation and in each other out. they get "it's a good collaboration to help each other out. returning year after year." develop and share skills phase one of the project is completion... coming up in governor kate brown singed a new bill
