newswatch 12's cassandra mlynarek is live near valley of the rogue state park ... she's been speaking with local law enforcment about simple ways you can protect your self from unsafe conditions in the water. this week - you'll see the jackson county sheriff's office out along the rogue river .. deputies are honing their skills on the water in the event of a water rescue... but they say there is one way you can significantly improve your chances for survival in the water ... ...that is to wear a life jacket. if a child is under 13 years old... they must wear a lifejacket while on the water. and if you're near shady cove - there's even a free life jacket ago--a woman drowned in the rogue river after getting caught on some branches. she was wearing a life jacket. officials say that doesn't mean you shouldn't wear one.
