region. top seeded sou had the early game against three seed northwestern from iowa ... the winner would need to be beaten twice in the bracket's title game tomorrow. so really important for sou to stay in the winner's bracket... high fives all around for the 9 am start time. this one was raiders against raiders... the good guys, in black, struck first... rebecca velasquez up the middle... runner from third scores... harlee donovan trying to score from second ... out at the plate, but that's alright, sou leads it after one... ===== northwestern kept things within reach though. top four, their best chance... nobody out ... two runners in scoring position... but an incredible play from kelsey randall prevents the first from scoring... ==== next batter they try to get creative... also no luck. sou gets out of the jam unscathed. ===== to the fifth... randall led off the inning with a triple ... easy money for hannah shimek driving her in ... 2-nothing sou.... ===== and later on they do what northwestern could not. small ball execution pushes another run across. it was mighty important because here comes northwestern in the sixth... ===== gabby sandoval's loaded the bases... bad news as she plunks a batter to push home a run... next batter walks to make it a 3-2 game... ===== the combo of allie hancock and morgan jones would get out of it though... and jones on to work the seventh... a strikeout to prove she has ice in her veins and a groundout to seal the win. sou holds on for a 3-2 win... here's jones, on slamming the door and punching sou's ticket to the title game. jones says, "i really like pressure situations, i've always stood out in those but my defense behind me was the main reason we got out of that inning, just grounders, grounders and yeah." the stage is set for tomorrow's title game. st. francis coming out of the consolation bracket after beating northwestern later this afternoon. the two seed fighting saints will need to beat sou twice... while the raiders are a win away from advancing to the naia world series in florida. so from the southern oregon region... to practically
