announcer says "now, stormwatch 12 weather with chief meteorologist matt hoffman" a soggy sunday across southern oregon and northern california. expect periods of rain throughout the day and snow in our higher elevations. some of the rain today will be heavy at times, especially for coastal areas where rain totals of 1-2" are possible over today and tomorrow. precipitation amounts for the rest of the area will range between 1/4" to 3/4" with higher amounts across the cascades. winds will be pretty gusty for parts of the area as well. especially, for the shasta valley and klamath basin. a wind advisory has been issued for eastern klamath and lake counties from 11 am until 8 pm sunday. sustained winds of 30-40 mph are likely ahead of a powerful cold front, with gusts as high as 50 mph possible. snow levels will be around 5,000' or so much of the day. new snow totals of 4-9 inches are possible in the cascades and siskiyous, with locally higher amounts for higher elevations. with the heaviest snow falling during the day, we shouldn't have too bad of impact on road conditions. snow levels and temperatures will drop tonight, which could very well lead to some slick spots to start your monday in our higher elevations. spotty showers, cool temperatures, and lower morning snow levels near 2,000 feet will be issues for monday along with some isolated thunderstorms. we will dry out a bit as we head into tuesday, but have the potential for showers on wednesday before drying out and warming up into the second half of the week. that's a look at what you can expect for the week ahead.= thanks, matt.
