ckson county search and rescue volunteers tell me its been a slow winter season for them compared to passed years. but with more snow potentially coming down later on this week, volunteers want to make sure it stays slow." thanks to the lack of snow this year, jackson county search and rescue has only been on about 18 to 19 missions so far. alan vos has been a volunteer with search and rescue for two years now. he says last year was a lot worse. alan says: "last year i went on 30 calls. i believe as a whole jackson county search and rescue was on 174 i believe. on kind of a volunteer base i believe we were calls out on roughly 90 to 100 call outs." the jackson county sheriff's office says while they're happy to help, they shouldn't be part of your safety plan. you should be prepared before you head out. sgt. denney says make sure you in case you still find yourself in trouble. julie says: "one thing to consider is a lot of the places where people need don't even have cell phone coverage to begin with. so calling 9-1-1 from those areas isn't even going to work if you can't call 9-1-1 you can always try a text, sometimes a text message can go out where a phone call can't." and if you do call or text, there is a whole team dedicated to try and help you. alan says: "i know if i was out there and got into trouble i'd want to know i can call somebody to help and i just kind of like being that guy that goes out and helps people." andryanna says: "for all of the different ways you can be prepared before you hit the road, head to our website kdrv.com. in medford, find a number of different ways
