Around 130 veterans here attended the first Grants Pass Veteran's Breakfast. Organizers say it's important to continue these breakfasts so veterans can come together and bring a collective voice to representatives in attendance.

rogue valley got up early for free food...and a chance to voice their concerns to state representatives. it was the first in a new series...the "grants pass veteran's breakfast." newswatch12's sionan barrett tells us why organizers say more veterans should take advantage of this resource. sionan says, "as you take a look around this room today, there's around 130 veterans here. veterans i've spoken with say it's important to continue these breakfasts to come together and bring a collective voice to representatives here today." nats pledge sal says, "veterans do not ask for anything but we can't give them enough." the first three breakfasts this year are free. it's an opportunity for veterans to learn about local resources and understand their benefits. for one local vet, it's also about comradery. alice says, "it's just like having your own family and everyone around you understands where you're from and where you're coming from and what you've been through so it just makes you feel more united." a representative from greg walden's office was there. plus sal esquivel, a vietnam war veteran, and medford state representative, gave an update on his work at the capital. sal says, "i think it's good for the veterans have and get answers for it." sionan says, "you'll remember this is only the first breakfast in a long series of breakfasts over the year. for a list of those dates and locations head to our website, kdrv.com. in grants pass, sionan barrett, newswatch12 ."
