make sure thousands of oregonian children wil continue to have access to health insurance. in the fall, a fully-funded 5- year extension was pased in the house in a bipartisan effort. it has not had enough bipartisan support to pass it in the senate. now the house is working on other strategies to find a resolution. walden says since in the new tax bill they've recalculated the cost for the chip program and they can reauthorize it for 6 years. he says the congressional budget office says chip can be funded at virtually no cost so the pay for issue goes away. greg walden says, "that money is running out once again, there's too much uncertainty out there, and at some point some two million people wil get notices their insurance wil be cancelled. none of this had to hapen, our committee had a bill that fully funded chip for five years it's been lodged in a problem in the senate. i'm trying another aproach here to break through that log jam." walden says the house wil look at that new approach next week. the deadline for oregon's chip program funding is january 19th. the government's
