eliana sheriff says, "police tell me that this white car behind me was turning onto matt loop when it was hit by a scion and t-boned. police say the driver of that scion was racing his friends. officer becker says, "we had in about two cars that were weaving in and out of traffic down highway 99. police say that racing resulted in a crash. both drivers walked away without injuries, but significant damage to the cars. officer becker says, "traffic is getting heavier, more people are on the road, it's getting congested. people are in a rush, even if they're not speed racing, that speed is a big contributor to crashes, just slow down because people aren't expecting other cars to go that fast." officer becker tells me racing isn't uncommon but it doesn't usually lead to a crash. he says typically the crashes they investigate are due to following too closely. police issued a citation to the driver who was racing home from phoenix high school. that fine was doubled since there was a crash. in medford, eliana sheriff, newswatch 12.
