Suspicious Package Near Grants Pass DHS "Full of Personal Items"

OSP and GPDPS are investigating a suspicious briefcase left in front of the DHS Office in Grants Pass around 5pm Monday evening.

UPDATE: After responding to the suspicious item left in Grants Pass DHS, Oregon State Police Bomb Squad determined that the questionable briefcase was "full of personal items," according to a statement from Grants Pass Department of Public Safety (GPDPS). There appeared to be no threat from the abandoned attache, and it is now being held by GPDPS for its rightful owner to come pick it up.

GRANTS PASS, Ore.-- The Oregon State Police explosives unit is looking into a suspicious briefcase left unclaimed in front of the DHS office in Grants Pass. The Grants Pass Dept. of Public Safety is also assisting with the investigation.
Police say employees called them when they saw the unclaimed briefcase as they were leaving the DHS building.
Police say they had to being in a secondary explosives unit from Salem before they could actually access the suspicious item.
They say in these situations, they are also cautious and prioritize safety.
