Once you walk through the casino doors. There's bright flashing lights, gambling, and excitement. The casino is bringing in 200 jobs into Yreka, with 60 of those jobs going to tribal members.

Robert Super, Vice-Chairman of the Karuk Tribe says, "When they talked about putting in the casino I thought it would be great because we get to keep our kids they can have jobs here and the jobs that they don't have here they can work in town or work in the area like that and like the jobs come to here so we can keep our kids home."

Board members say this ribbon cutting is symbolic. It's opening its doors to the Yreka community, while re-opening its doors to the tribal members who left Yreka to find work.

Russell Attebery, Chairman of the Karuk Tribe says, "That part is very exciting to be able to have people come back with their families and have an opportunity to live and provide a good quality of life for their families."

To help patrol the Casino, the tribe bought a new squad car for the Yreka Police Department. The Casino also agreed to pay the salary of one officer which comes out to about $90,000 a year.

While this 35,000 square foot, $35 million dollar project is finished, plans to expand the casino are just getting started.

In three years, the Karuk tribe plans to add an 80-room hotel, more parking, and another 20 thousand feet of gaming space.
