EAGLE POINT, Ore. — Eagle Point School District Member Damian Crowson says, "The Eagle Point High School was running a fire drill, and upon students exiting the building, there were two deer on campus that we're spooked, and one of them ran into a student who was exiting for the fire drill."

Josie Lemley says, "I think I got hit in the face with a hoof."

Senior Josie Lemley suffered a concussion Tuesday from a deer running straight into her.

We obtained a video a student took right after the incident.

You can see school staff and students gathered around Josie, who was knocked unconscious for about 30 seconds.

You also see the deer struggling after it likely broke its leg from the force of the collision.

Josie Lemley says, "Well we were having a fire drill during school hours, I made it halfway out there and next thing I know I was on the ground. I never saw any deer."

That's because the deer that hit her came so fast. The school speculates that something—possibly the alarms—must have spooked it.

School staff called 9-1-1 and Josie was taken to the hospital.

One administrator says the incident may affect how the school practices drills in the future. He says they might add perimeter checks as part of their drill plan.

For now, this student says it was a freak accident—one that she's glad to be walking away from.

Josie Lemley says, "I still don't know how I don't have a broken bone from that."
