ASHLAND, Ore., -- Ashland will play host to a benefit screening of “Captain Fantastic” on Tuesday. Director Matt Ross is an Ashland native and an award winning director.

Ross is known for his character acting in several films and t-v shows such as "The Aviator," "American Psycho," "Big Love" and "Silicon Valley." His latest film, "Captain Fantastic" premiered at Sundance Film Festival. Then went onto Cannes where Ross won best director in his section.  Originally, the film was supposed to show at the Ashland Independent Film Festival this year but the staff says the timing didn't work out.

The screening of "Captain Fantastic" is at 6:00, Tuesday night at the Varsity Theatre. A question and answer session will follow the screening and then a fundraising event where locals can meet the director is scheduled at Scarpetta Restaurant in Ashland. Tickets are still available with proceeds benefiting AIFF.
