"I want to know what happened to my son,” says Sam’s mother, Kristen Becker.

Sam was 8 years old when he disappeared on a camping trip with his dad.

More than 200 people came out to help look for him, but he was never found and heavy snowfall ended up stopping the search.

Three years later, rescue crews began using training sessions as a way to keep looking.

“We try to do this on a regular basis and because this was an area of high probability, we've elected to do our training in the area where he could potentially still be,” says Pete Reinhardt.

In addition to training, crews hoped to turn up clues leading them to any type of answer.

“Ultimately, I’d like to find out what happened to Sammy, so we can bring closure to this issue, and closure for his family also,” says Reinhardt.

A documentary film was made a few years after Sam’s disappearance to draw in any other possible clues.

Groups of mountain rescue crews, horsemen and helicopters all searched for days hoping to find anything that might lead them to Sam.

However, they never found the young boy's remains and the case is still a mystery.
