Containment Expected for Owens Fire

Owens FireHOOD RIVER, Ore. — Fire crews are expecting a wildfire burning outside of Hood River to be at least 85% contained by Thursday night.

The Owens Fire is burning south of Hood River. The Oregon Department of Forestry says the flames moved quickly after sparking early Wednesday morning.

On Wednesday, crews were estimating it was about 50 acres, with the potential to grow four times that much. By Thursday morning, however, the Owens Fire was at around 20 acres. At last report, it was 65% contained.
