The extreme heat is ongoing today. Highs are expected to climb well into the 90’s and exceed 100 in some locations. Aside from a heat, quiet weather will remain in place through the day.
The marine layer is bringing low lying clouds to the coast and the Umpqua Basin. Much of Douglas County will start off with clouds/fog. Clearing skies should yield mostly sunny conditions by midday in Brookings. A weak offshore wind will help bring highs there into the 70’s.
Isolated thunderstorms are likely on Tuesday over Siskiyou County, and then on Wednesday the storm threat will expand to include the Basin as well. For now, this does not look to be a widespread thunderstorm event and drier air should keep things dry by Thursday.
There is little relief in sight from the heat …as triple digits are expected to hang around through Thursday for the West Side and Northern California. Friday, we’ll start to cool things down slightly and stay that way into the weekend. Still, highs are going to be in the 80’s and 90’s.
