ASHLAND, Ore. — Economists say Oregon’s unemployment rate is the lowest since October 2008.
Despite the slow job growth, dozens of companies were looking to hire at the Southern Oregon University Job Fair. The Hillsboro Police Department stopped by the fair for the first time. The department is looking to hire 9 officers.
“This is one of the larger metropolitan areas in the state and it’s an area we really haven’t recruited from. Right now, we know law enforcement jobs are somewhat scarce in this region and we know that there are people here that are interested in a career in policing,” Hillsboro Police Department Sgt. Eric Bunday.
Our very own NewsWatch 12 team was also at the fair this afternoon. For a the full list of companies at the event click here.
