For the next several morning we’ll have the chance for the marine layer stratus to move in along the coast, and a few areas inland may also be seeing some low stratus clouds. Along the coast winds will pick up by the afternoon and this will be the cast through the end of the week.
As for inland areas, expect to see similar conditions today as we did over the weekend, with below normal temperatures and mostly sunny skies. As we head into the rest of the week, however, we’ll see the ridge over the nation once again shift west over our region bringing in well above normal temperatures. This Saturday we’ll have the best chance so far this year to break that 100 degree mark in Medford! If we do it will be the hottest day of the year so far…in fact the hottest day for almost the past two years! Remember to stay hydrated and cool on hot days. Heat is the number one weather related killer in the United States. While this looks like the best chance so far to reach 100 degrees, we will also see some monsoon moisture be advected into the area from the southwest increasing our chances for thunderstorms on Saturday. If we get too much cloud cover on Saturday we won’t get as much daytime heating. I’m excited to see what happens!
