AURORA, Colo. — An early morning mass shooting at a Colorado movie theater has stunned the nation.

At least 12 people are dead, more than 70 injured after an attack at a packed movie theater. Many of victims thought the violence unfolding was all part of the the Batman film, but quickly realized it was a real-life nightmare.

The suspect is in custody, but the investigation into what provoked his attack is only just beginning. Police arrested 24-year-old James Holmes. A Colorado state court spokesman says Holmes is scheduled to appear in court Monday morning at 8:30 a.m.

This morning, President Obama said he and the First Lady were “shocked and saddened” by the massacre. He pledged the administration’s support for victims. Putting politics aside, presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney said he agreed with the president’s sentiment.
