Very little changes have come today with the forecast since yesterday. The main weather headline is the cold temperatures in the overnight hours for the days to come. Morning temperatures will approach critical values for sensitive fruits and crops. The coldest temperatures will be in the mid and upper 20’s for portions of the valleys.
A freeze warning remains in effect through 9am this morning for the entire West Side, including Eastern Curry County, as well as the Shasta Valley. These same areas are under a freeze watch already for Friday night/Saturday morning, which will likely be upgraded to a freeze warning sometime Friday.
Dry weather and mostly sunny skies will be ongoing throughout the weekend. A gradual warming trend will continue into Monday, when high temperatures will be 10-15 degrees above average. Tuesday and Wednesday of next week rain showers will move in for all locations. Cooler air looks to be associated with this area of low pressure and snow is likely for the highest elevations throughout this time period.
