MEDFORD, Ore. – Nearly two weeks after the election, several local races have still not been called and county officials say the results may come down to a recount.
The Ashland City Council race between Carol Voisin and Jackie Agee is neck-and-neck: Agee is leading by just 13 votes. In Josephine County, the race for County Commissioner Position 3 is still undecided; there, Cherryl Walker leads Bob Just by 66 votes. County clerks say the close races would likely result in an automatic recount.
“Of course, we usually have those pretty much every big election. Not the smaller elections, but pretty much every larger election we have those,” explained the Jackson County Clerk, Chris Walker.
An automatic recount is triggered if the difference is one-fifth of one percent. The results still need to be officially certified by November 26th.
