C&K Market’s “Reorganization” Layoffs

RAYS-FOOD-PLACEMEDFORD, Ore. — By the end of the week, liquidation of merchandise in 15 closed C&K owned stores will be done.

Half of C&K Market’s corporate staff members in Medford and Brookings have received pink slips. This is part of the company’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

Last year, it announced it would shut down 15 stores, including Ray’s, Shop Smart and LoBucks. Now, with fewer stores, C&K says it just does not need as many people in its corporate offices.

Positions were cut in all departments. The company says no more cuts are planned.
