WHITE CITY, Ore. — Zachary Earll saved the day on Sunday, Dec. 15, when he stopped a burglary in progress at the Big R, located on Highway 62 in White City. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to Big R at 1:45 p.m. for a shoplifting. A store employee was working at the counter when the anti-theft alarm went off, the employee asked the man walking out of the store to wait, but instead the man ran out of the store.
The man is Troy Jones, 43, of Talent. As he was running out, he was stopped and detained by a Jackson County citizen, Zachary Earll, 20, of Shady Cove. Earll tackled Jones and held him down until law enforcement arrived on scene, according to witnesses.
Jones admitted to Jackson County Sheriff Deputies to stealing a pair of jeans from Big R and wore them out of the store under his sweatpants. The jeans value is $74.00 and they have been returned to Big R.
Troy Jones was arrested and lodged at the Jackson County Jail. He was charged with Theft and three other unrelated warrants.
