MEDFORD, Ore. — Last minute shoppers are out making their final purchases as the countdown to Christmas ticks away, but as a result roads are backed up and parking lots are full.
Stores said this weekend is one of the busiest times of the year when it comes to shopping. Lots of customers are say they have their main gifts purchased, but now they are the search for the last minute items they forgot earlier and stocking-stuffers.
Fred Meyer said it is fully staffed, and has most of its cash registers open to help accommodate the shoppers and get them in and out as soon as possible.
“Oh its been really busy, we’ve had a lot of customer traffic through the doors, and especially in the parking lot, it’s been challenging, but it’s been a lot of fun,” said Fred Meyer store director, Steve Barclay.
Fred Meyer said it saw more people come through its doors this weekend then on Black Friday, but it said Black Friday is still more hectic because everyone comes in at the same time.
Several stores are extending their holiday hours through this weekend and next week until Christmas to help customers spread out their shopping, and make it where they can shop at a time that is convenient for them.
