Medford, Ore.  – With the weather warming up, it’s the perfect time to go on a bike ride with your family.  Experts are stressing safety first, reminding everyone to wear a helmet.

Providence Medford Medical Center officials say only 1 in 5 people wear a helmet.  They say helmets are life-saving.

When choosing a helmet, official say there are some important things to keep in mind:

-It should be snug, level and stable on your head

-With the helmet level on your head, the rim of your helmet should be just two finger widths above your eyebrow.

-The straps should meet and form a “v” right under each ear lobe.

-The straps should be snug, but not too tight.  Make sure you can put two fingers between the strap and your chin.
