MEDFORD, Ore.– A man is facing charges of child sex abuse after being investigated for an illegal mushroom grow.
Last February, Medford Area Drug and Gang Enforcement investigators searched a home on West 11th street in Medford, and a storage unit on Highbanks Road in Central Point. They said Ernest Taylor was arrested after finding evidence of psilocybin and marijuana.
After a standard review of evidence, the Southern Oregon High-Tech Crimes Task Force found child pornography linked to Taylor. Several agencies launched another investigation, last Friday. Officials said they believe Taylor sexually abused a child between December 2012 and July 2013.
They tried to serve a search warrant that day, but Taylor was not home. Investigators said he was tracked down to a home in Crescent City. With assistance from the Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office, a warrant arrest was obtained and Taylor was arrested later that day.
Taylor is being held in the Del Norte County jail on a million dollar bail for charges of child sex abuse and pornography. He is awaiting extradition to Jackson County. The investigation is ongoing.
