CENTRAL POINT, Ore. — A young child was sent to the hospital and a driver put in handcuffs after a car crash in Central Point. Police are now investigating whether that driver was under the influence.
The crash happened around nine last night, near the Pilot station on Pine Street right before the interstate. A Jackson County Sheriff’s deputy on scene said a black sedan carrying a family was driving eastbound on Pine Street when it was hit by a Chevy SUV trying to turn into the station.
The child was taken by ambulance to a hospital, but officers on scene did not know the extent of the child’s injuries. The driver of that SUV was seen handcuffed and put into the back of a sheriff’s car.
A sheriff’s deputy says they are investigating whether that driver had been drinking.
