Chet’s Moving; But Flower Baskets Stay

chet's basketsGRANTS PASS, Ore. — Chet’s Garden Center in downtown Grants Pass announced that it will be moving to a new location in December. Chet’s owner, Cliff Bennett, said he has bought property in Brookings, Ore. and plans to open the nursery there in February.

Cliff and his son, Travis, have been responsible for hanging and tending to the flower baskets you see throughout downtown Grants Pass for years. Cliff told NewsWatch 12 that those won’t be going away with his absence, ¬†instead his son will be taking over the job.

Cliff is currently leasing the land in Grants Pass. He has made an offer to buy the property, which if that goes through, the Chet’s in Grants Pass will stay open under new ownership and he will spread the business to the coast as well.

“There is a need for a good garden center over on the coast,” said Cliff. “I feel like this market is saturated with good places to buy plants, and I want to downsize.”
