Chancellor George Pernsteiner To Leave

PORTLAND, Ore. — The State Board of Higher Education unanimously approved a severance agreement on Monday for Chancellor George Pernsteiner.

Under the negotiated agreement, Pernsteiner will stay in the job until March 1 and then work for one month on a special project. After he runs out of vacation time in may, he’ll continue to collect his salary for 12 months unless he accepts another job.

Pernsteiner says he’s stepping down as chancellor because board members want new leadership.
