Celebrating New Year’s Eve On The Slopes

ASHLAND, Ore. — During the day, many people decided to celebrate New Year’s Eve on the slopes.

Dozens of skiers and snowboarders hit Mount Ashland. Some people brought their families, but most people told NewsWatch 12 the weather brought them out to the slopes.

“It’s really nice. Like for a normal day, it’s surprising for it to be pretty warm,” said Taylor Morgan, a snowboarder.

“I’m just excited there’s a lot of snow. Last year they didn’t open till mid-January and I was just really bummed. So I’m excited that they’re opening earlier,” said another snowboarder, Brendan Claffey.

Mount Ashland officials say, this is the best December they’ve ever had. The two busiest days so far have been Christmas Eve and this past Sunday.
