Cats Crowd Local Shelters

JACKSON COUNTY, Ore. — More than 400 cats are crowding three local shelters. This weekend those shelters are waiving the adoption fee in an effort to find those animals a home.

Committed Alliance to Strays, Jackson County Animal Shelter and the Southern Oregon Humane Society are participating in the discounted weekend event for adult cats.

If these cats don’t get adopted, the shelters won’t be able to accept any new ones in the near future. During the first two hours of opening on Saturday, more than 21 cats were adopted by local residents.
