Mariah is 8-years-old, and as you’ll see, she is direct, engaging and has a great sense of humor. If you spend time with Mariah, do your homework and come prepared, because she has questions and she wants answers.

Mariah is very enthusiastic. This is an eight-year-old girl with a lot to share and she’ll talk about just about anything, but she won’t always sing. In school, she likes to use her creativity in art class, but don’t ask her to crunch numbers – she thinks math is boring.

Mariah, on the other hand, is never boring. In fact, she almost never stops moving. Everything she saw or read seemed to open up another animated conversation. She’ll also entertain you with her sense of humor.

Mariah is a ready for a permanent home and we hope a loving family will realize what amazing girl she is and benefit from sharing their lives with her very soon.

Our thanks to Mariah for her time and the Science Factory in Eugene for providing us a great place to have fun. If you’re interested in learning more about adoption, contact the Department of Human Services Child Welfare Division at 776-6120 ask for extension 264.

By Brian Morton

MEDFORD, Ore. — The bond between brothers can be very strong and that is certainly the case for this month’s Wednesdays Child. For kids in the foster care system, siblings can become their only source of stability and support.

K.R. and Julius have helped each other through some tough situations and they have respect and admiration for each other. That trust comes from years of brotherly competition. Whether they are playing apart or together, these two boys are always interested in learning and are always willing to lend a hand.

K.R. and Julius love sports and reading, but most of all, hanging out with each other and playing video games. Any game with Michael Jordon is a favorite.

Their lives have had a lot of twists and turns. There have been some false starts along the way, but through it all they’ve discovered what they think is truly important: a family to trust and a family to love – doesn’t’ seem like a lot to ask from two boys who seem so comfortable trusting and loving each other.

Our thanks to the Science Factory and to Wendy’s for their support Wednesday’s Child. If you’re interested in learning more about adoption, contact the Department of Human Services Child Welfare Division at 776-6120 ask for extension 264.
