Start with a high spirited woman, throw in a group of adorable kids, some nuns and a Nazi invasion and you’ve got the world’s most beloved musical.

It is, of course, “The Sound of Music.” This award winning musical is currently on the stage of the Camelot Theatre in Talent. The high-energy cast brings to life the love story and the music inspired by the lives of the Von Trapp family singers, a story that also became the classic film. You’ll be singing along with favorite tunes from “Do Re Mi” and “My Favorite Things” to the stirring “Climb Every Mountain.”

“The Sound of Music” has been extended and now runs through April 21st. Contact the Camelot Theatre Box Office for ticket information.
Spring is here and that means it’s time to crown a new pear blossom queen. For months, nine outstanding young ladies from local area high schools have been participating in a scholarship program to be recognized as the pear blossom queen and court.

During that time, they are judged on school leadership skills, academic achievement, and community involvement. It all leads up to the pageant events this Saturday. The Junior Royalty Coronation takes place at 9 a.m., then following that at 7 p.m. is the Senior Royalty Pageant.

Newswatch 12′s Erin Maxson and Chris Leone will be there to ask the contestants impromptu questions. And at the end of the evening, the 2013 pear blossom queen will be crowned. It all happens at the North Medford High School auditorium. Tickets are eight dollars for adults and five dollars for students.
